There have never been so many ways to fold an aeroplane! - and yes, I was having a very bored moment when I found that site :-).

VE Day 2005

This post contains a lot of pictures, therefore it may take a while to finish loading, be patient!

If the images fail to load, try again in an hour.

On the 8th of May 1945, people celebrated the defeat of Nazi Germany, and the day became known as 'Victory in Europe Day', or 'VE Day'.

2005 marks 60 years since the end of the war, and celebrations to mark VE day were held across the the country, and elsewhere in the world.

In the town of Droitwich, Worcestershire, celebrations were held over the VE Day 2005 weekend. On Saturday the 7th May, army re-enactors moved into Droitwich, and old army vehicles lined the street.

Not all of the vehicles were British - there were a few US Army trucks and ambulances there as well.

Inside one of the trucks:

Equipment on the ambulance that would have been used in the trenches:

On the Saturday, the organisers scheduled a flyover by a Douglas DC3. I promise that the speck in the picture on the right is it. :-)

A tank...

Yes, it is THE Dad's Army van!

Soldiers in the square...

On Sunday 8th May, it was officially 60 years since the original VE Day, and Droitwich held a memorial service.

I will leave you here, as I think most of the next pictures are self-explanatory...

Bye!

My First Post

Hello!

Welcome to my blog. My name is Matthew (which you probably guessed from the title), I am 16 years old, and I live in England.

This blog will be about anything that I decide to post about; things that I've done recently, what's in the news, and anything else I can think of that's dreadfully boring. :-)

Before I start, here is what you can expect from me and my blog.
I challenge you to find spelling mistakes in my posts, spelling mistakes, not typos. I promise not to run my posts through a spell checker before posting, so wish me luck. I will, for the most part, have comments enabled on my posts, butyou must be registered to do this.

Also, I will sometimes use smileys, so you know what tone of voice I am saying something in. :-)
I will not use acronyms, IMHO they show lazy typists are at work, and other people have no idea what they are saying.

How often will I post? Well, it depends on what's happening, but probably once a week at most.

While you're here, I will let you know that I will soon also have two other blogs, one for web design, and one for technology in general. This is based on the idea that not everyone who reads this blog will want to learn HTML, or discuss the latest technology news.

If you would, however, check this blog soon for some links to them (they'll be in the sidebar).

Given my interest in photography, you will be sure to see pictures I have taken posted here wherever possible (both good and bad).

Here goes...
